CRANLEIGH VILLAGE HOSPITAL
THE LEAGUE OF FRIENDS

The objects of the charity are to support the work of the Hospital, to assist patients and former patients of the Hospital and other members of the community who are sick, convalescent, disabled or infirm and to provide funds to supplement the NHS as it sees fit.

Although the beds were closed in 2010 the League has continued to provide funds for equipment for the Outpatient services at the Hospital in addition to funding equipment for Cranleigh Medical Practice and Rowley's. For a list of Outpatient Clinics held at the Hospital see 'Documents'. It provides funds for End of Life care for patients in Cranleigh and Ewhurst and purchased six defibrillators for those communities which are distributed around the villages. The League publishes an Annual Newsletter which is distributed to over 3000 homes in Cranleigh and Ewhurst by our wonderful volunteers.

Most recently the Directors funded a new Radiology Department in Cranleigh Village Hospital with the Royal Surrey County Hospital. The grant of £400,000  covered equipment and installation of a new X-Ray machine. It also created a permanent home for the ultrasound machine, which was purchased in 2014 with funds from the League, and a reporting room. The new Radiology department was opened on 24th May 2019 by the Rt Hon Anne Milton M.P.

The next project is a new Maternity Hub based at the Hospital. The League has pledged upto £40,000 to equip a new antenatal and postnatal clinic for local families at the Hospital. It is hoped the new Hub will be opened in the Spring 2020.

The League's arrangement with the Cranleigh Co-op to have collection buckets at the checkouts came to end recently although the book table remains.  An astonishing £1200 was raised in just over 12 months thanks to the generosity of the Co-op customers. All of this will be used by the League for the benefit of the local community. The League is extremely grateful to the Co-op and to their customers for their generosity.

The League looks forward to continuing to provide funds to local organisations and is extremely grateful to the community who are so supportive of our Hospital, passionate in its defence and have been so generous with both time and money.
